Emergency Call
Private or TPS eCall has been in existence since 2000. This type of eCall is previously operated as a subscription service. Examples can be found in Europe with BMW, Volvo and General Motors OnStar. The service can also be operated by a technical service provider on behalf of an insurance provider or vehicle maker.
The mandated deployment of eCall based in 112 in Europe has resulted in a change to the legislation concerning private eCall, as it may now be fitted alongside the mandated 112 eCall. As a result there are a number of vehicle makers and other organisations who are now looking to be able to deploy eCall on the European market.
Unique expertise
Private eCall can vary widely in its architecture, how the eCall and accompanying data is transmitted and how it is received by the nominated PSAP across Member States. ShadowFocus is guiding the development of private eCall in Europe with commercial entities, as well as helping member states to understand and manage private eCall in Europe. ShadowFocus Consultancy has an excellent network across Europe and beyond embracing all the Governmental bodies with a role in eCall deployment.
ShadowFocus has a unique perspective and understanding about how to implement private eCall stemming from Andy’s leadership of the HeERO and HeERO2 project and experience of I_HeERO. This is coupled with over 30 years operational experience in the Police Service. ShadowFocus is now examining how data that is captured as a result of an eCall activation can be further exploited, and the opportunities that these present for the whole rescue chain stakeholder community.
